juillet 8, 2019

Dr. Hanns LochmüllerDr. Hanns Lochmüller has been awarded a prestigious Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) through the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. He was recruited to Ottawa through the CRC program, and has held academic leadership positions in Germany and the UK.  Dr. Lochmüller’s research focuses on rare inherited neuromuscular diseases. In particular he wants to understand why small variations in the human genome lead to these frequently disabling, sometimes lethal, and rarely treatable conditions. As a clinician scientist, Dr. Lochmüller is well-known for his translational research and his achievements in diagnosing and treating rare disease. “I’m really delighted to have this opportunity to bring Canadian families with neuromuscular disease into my clinical and basic research, and also to train up new world-class investigators,” said Dr. Lochmüller, a neurologist and senior scientist at CHEO, associate scientist and neurologist at The Ottawa Hospital, professor at the University of Ottawa and affiliated with the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute.
